Application Study on Polyaluminum Chloride - Kaolin Combination for Removing Divalent Iron from Source Water

Abstract: In response tothe problemof excessive divalent ironcaused byasuddendropindissolvedoxygen inrawwaterat a water plantin the Southern China,acombined process of polyaluminumchlorideand kaolinisproposed to systematically evaluate its emergencytreatment eficiencyandapplicability.Afteron-sitetesting anddata analysis,itis foundthat when the dosage of kaolinisincreased to 150mg/L ,the iron content in the filtered water decreases to O.O7 mg/L under the condition of a rawwater iron content of 0.30mg/L ,a decrease of 76.6% . This process does not require the use of complex equipment andissuitableforseasonal polution scenarios inold water plantsand lakereservoirs,it has the advantages of lowcost and easy operation,providing afeasible technical path for the treatment ofsimilar water quality problems.At the same time,the dosing strategy isoptimized,andthe applicationscenarios of kaolin is expanded inwater treatment.
