Source and Spatial Variation of Spectral Characteristics of Dissolved Organic Matter in the Pearl River Estuary Sediments

Abstract: The Pearl River Estuary isan important estuary in southern China,Disslved Organic Matter (DOM) in its sediment has an important impact on regional carbon cycle and ecological environment.The main sources of DOM in sediments fromthePearlRiver estuaryareelaborated,andthespectral characteristicsofDOMinsedimentsaredetected through UV visible absorption spectroscopyand 3D fluorescence spectroscopy,thus analyzing the spatial variation pattern of DOM.The experimental resultsshow that from the intraoral area to the extraoral area,the source of DOM gradually transitions from terrstrial tooceanicsources,molecularweightandaromatizationdegre graduallydecrease,itisspeulated thathydrodynamicconditions,sedimentproperties,andbiogeochemicalprocessesarethemain factors affectingthespatial distribution of DOM.
