Research on the Process of Using Ammonium Sulfate Assisted Oxidation Roasting to Recover Lithium from Waste LiFePO Batteries

Abstract: In response to the demand for resource recycling of waste LiFePO (LFP) batteries,the ammonium sulfate assisted oxidation roasting-water immersion method is used to selectively extract lithium from waste LFPcathode materials. The optimal process conditions are determined bysystematicallyoptimizing parameters such as roasting temperature, material ratio,and roasting time.When the roasting temperature is 400 ΔC ,the material ratio is O.75,and the roasting time is1.0 h, the lithium leaching rate reaches 82.74% . X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the Li Ω2>04 andFePO (204号 generated inthe roasted sand confirm the effctive extractionof lithium,whilethe formationof insoluble phases such as Li3Fe Φ2(PO4)3 limits the further leaching of lithium.The analysis results of Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (SEM-EDS) shows that there is no residual N in the roasted sand, indicating that (NH4)2S04 completely decomposes into NH3,which escapes without introducing impurities.The relevantconclusion provides areliable method for efficient and clean recycling of lithium from waste LFP batteries.
