Abstract: Aesthetic general elective courses in universities play a vital role in fulfiling the mission of fostering virtue through education and enhancing students’ cultural literacy and aesthetic competence. From the perspective of cultural inheritance, this study analyzes the educational positioning of aesthetic courses and their functions in cultivating cultural identity and value orientation. It further identifies the necessity of integrating cultural inheritance into the curriculum management system. Based on four key dimensions-curriculum construction, management mechanisms, faculty and resource development, and evaluation systems-this study proposes optimization strategies aimed at strengthening the cultural connotation and management effectiveness of university aesthetic general education. The research provides a theoretical and practical reference for improving the quality of aesthetic education in higher institutions.
