Abstract: Homegoing, a family epic by Ghanaian-American author Yaa Gyasi, traces the three-century destinies of two half-sisters Efa and Esi,against the Atlantic slave trade. Applying Tao Jiajun's postcolonial identity theory, this paper analyzes the identity dilemmas, coping strategies and reconstruction of Effia's lineage through three phases: slave trade, colonial rule, and global diaspora. The novel's portrayal of Ghanaian identity transformation is emblematic; its analysis not only reveals Ghana's the inherent national identity logic but also embodies what Zhu Zhenwu terms "Africanness"-decoloniality,diasporicity,and hybridity, making the novel a key case for contemporary African literature's dialogue with world civilizations.
