论荀子教育观的逻辑建构

Abstract: Xunzi's educational philosophy takes the premise that“human nature is inherently evil” as its logical starting point. The innate human tendency to seek benefits and avoid harm, if left unrestrained,will lead to social disorder. To achieve the harmonious governance of society, the necessity of education arises accordingly. This paper sorts out and integrates the logical framework of Xunzi's educational views. The research shows that Xunzi's argument on the feasibility of acquired education is based on two crucial guarantees: the rational cognitive capacity of the mind and the proactive mechanism of “artificial cultivation". These two factors enable people to understand the norms of rituals,righteousness and laws,and possess the potential to receive moral education and practice good deeds,which also serve as the logical intermediary of Xunzi's educational philosophy. Ultimately, the essence of Xunzi's education lies in the process of “transforming nature through artificial cultivation". Xunzi advocates the realization of education through specific learning methods,and the practical paths of "honoring rituals", "accumulating artificial cultivation" and "valuing teachers" form a logical closed loop of his educational philosophy.
