Rapid Detection and Analysis of Illegal Borax Addition inFlour-BasedFoods

Abstract:Curently,China'sfoodsafetyintheflour-basedfoodsectorfacesseverechallenges,withthecovertddition of non-ediblesubstances becomingaregulatorypain point.Someunscrupulous operators illgallyadd borax to improve foodtextureand extend shelflife,posing potential threats to public health.Addressing thedisconnectbetweenrapid on-site screeningand laboratory-based precise quantification in existing detection methods,this paper systematically reviewsthephysicochemical propertiesand toxicological mechanisms ofborax.Itconductsan in-depthanalysis of the advantagesanddisadvantagesofvarious technical approaches,including sensory identification,chemicalrapid testing, and instrumental confirmation.The paper explores a comprehensive detection system fromqualitative screening to quantitativeanalysis,with particularattention tothe interference ofraw material background valueson testresults.The researchaims toestablishascientificand eficientdetection framework,provide technicalreferenceformarketregulatory authorities to more precisely combat illegal additionand effectivelysafeguard consumers'food safety.
