Research on process safety of batch reactor in fine chemical industry

Abstract:Inorder to improvethe processsafetylevelof batchreactorin finechemical industry,this study takes the batch synthesis process ofethylenecarbonate as theresearchobject,and discusses the safetyrisksandoptimizationmeasures inthereactionprocessInthis study,automatic reactioncalorimeter,diffrentialscanningcalorimeter and adiabatic acceleration calorimeter were used to analyze the adiabatic temperature rise,decomposition characteristicsand temperature parametersof intermitent synthesis of ethylene carbonate underdiferent reaction conditions afteradding microchannel heat exchange unit.The processrisk was systematically evaluated by matrix analysis, out-of-control scenario analysis and HAZOP analysis.The evaluation results show that the adiabatic temperature riserange of ethylene carbonate synthesis reaction is 50.2~98.3°C,the severity levelis critical,the possibilityof secondary decomposition is extremelylow,andthe comprehensive risk level isacceptable.Therunawayscenario analysis shows thatthe increase of reaction temperature willead to the increase ofthe maximum temperature at the time of cooling failure.Therisk level is level3,and thecooling systemand pressurerelief device needto beoptimized.HAZOP analysis further puts forward the causes and countermeasures of temperature anomalies.This study providesatheoretical basis for the process safety optimization of ethylene carbonateand other fine chemical batch reactors,and has certain application valuein reducing the risk of thermal runaway and achieving intrinsic safety.
