Research on a new process for synthesizing ethylene carbonate from ethylene oxide / /CO2

Abstract:In order to make rational use of carbon dioxide resources and develop the synthesis process of ethylene carbonate,based on thesynthesis processof ethylenecarbonate from ethylene oxide and carbon dioxide,a composite catalyst was prepared with cerium nitrate hexahydrate as theactivecomponent and bariumcarbonate as thecarrier.The effects ofreaction temperature,pressure,time and catalyst dosage on the synthesis processof ethylene carbonate were studied,and thestabilityofthe catalyst was investigated.The results showed that under theoptimal conditions of reaction temperature 135 ΔC ,pressure 3.O MPa,time 4h and catalyst dosage 7.5% ,the yield of ethylene carbonate reached 96.7% and the conversion of ethylene oxide was 85.1% . Moreover,when the number of cyclesis6 times,the yield of ethylene carbonate still remains 90.8% ,and the stability of the catalyst is good. In summary,the processconditions of this ethylene carbonate synthesis processsystem are mildand eficient,which can provideareference for the industrial productionof ethylene carbonateand isof great valueforrealizing the resource utilization of carbon dioxide.
