Comparative Study on the Consistency of Zinc, Manganese, Iron, and Copper Determination in Broad Beans Using Different Analytical Methods

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the consistency of the results for the determination of zinc, manganese, iron,and copper inbroad beans by inductivelycoupled plasma optical emisson spectrometry (ICP-OES),inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Method: 0.2~ 0.3g broad bean powder was added to 8mL ofnitric acid for microwave digestion.After removing the acid, the solution was quantitatively transferred to a 10mL volumetric flask with pure water to make up the volume. The sampleswere then determined by ICP-OES, ICP-MS,and FAAS,respectively. Pairwise t -testswere performed to analyze the consistency of the results. Result: After uncertainty assessment, the t -values for the determination of zinc and copper were less than t95%,10 (2.23); the t. -values for the determination of iron and manganese were partially greater than t95%,10 (2.23). Conclusion: After uncertainty assessment, the determination results of zinc and copper by difrent methods were consistent; the determination results of iron and manganese by some methods were inconsistent after statistical analysis.
