Optimization of High Performance Liquid Chromatography for Determination of Vitamin E in Chewing Gum

Abstract: This article uses HPLC to determine the content of vitamin E in chewing gum,and studies the optimization of the detection method. Using a C30 chromatographic column for separation, methanol water was used as the mobile phase, with a flow rate of 0.5mL⋅min-1 and a column temperature of 25∘C .Fluorescence detection was performed at a wavelength of 294nm using an external standard method for quantitative analysis. The results showed thatvitamin E exhibited good linearity in the range of 0.25~10.00μg⋅mL-1 ,with a correlation coefficient of R2>0.999 . The detection limit was 14.0μg/100g , the quantification limit was 48.0μg/100g , the recovery rate was between 86.6% and 101.2% ,and the relative standard deviation not exceed 4.96% . This method is simple to test, highly sensitive,and suitable for the determination of vitamin E in chewing gum.
