Study on Characteristics and Risk Assessment of Heavy Metal Pollution in Surface Soil Around an Electroplating Park in Eastern Zhejiang Based on Multi-Model Evaluation

Abstract:Focused on thesurface soilssurroundingatypical electroplating industrial park ineastern Zhejiang,this study employed multiple methodologies toassess polution statusand healthrisks.Theresultsshowed thatinthesurface soil ofthestudyarea,exceptfor Hg,theaveragevalues ofother heavymetals exceeded thebackground values,showing enrichment,andsomeheavy metals hadlargecoeficientsofvariationandunevenspatialdistribution,whichwereseverely affcted byhumanactivities.Thecumulative index method indicates thattheoverallpolutionintheregion is light,but somepointshave heavy metalpolution.The potential ecologicalriskindex methodshows that theregionis heavilypollted by Cd,andattentionshouldbepaidtoelementssuchasHg,As,Cu,ndNi.Thehealthriskassessmentresultsshowthat adults face potentialnoncarcinogenicrisks,withoralintakebeingthe mainrouteandCrelementcontributingsignificantly; Thecarcinogenicriskis withinanacceptablerange,Cddoes notposeacarcinogenicisk,hileAs,Cr,andNihavecertain but controllable risks.
