Research on the Microbial Contamination in Dried Wolfberry Fruits

Abstract: Objective: The paper aims to understand the microbial contamination status of dried wolfberries sold in Gansu,Qinghai,and Ningxia markets.Method: From 2020 to 2024,a total of 100 samples of commercially availabledried gojiberries werecollected inGansu,Qinghai,and Ningxia.According torelevant national standard methods,coliforms,molds,Salmonela, Staphylococcus aureus,and Escherichia coli Ol57:H7 were detected in goji berries. Result: Among 1OO samples of dried wolfberries,the unqualified rates of coliform bacteria and mold were 28.00% and 51.00% , respectively, and the contamination level of bulk dried goji berries was higher than that of pre packagedsamples; nopathogenic bacteriasuchasSalmonell,Staphylococcus aureus,and EscherichiacoliO157:H7 were detected inallsamples.Conclusion: Microbial contamination in commercially available dried wolfberries in Gansu,Qinghai,and Ningxia is mainly caused by coliform bacteria and mold. Given the significant impact of mold on wolfberies quality,it is recommended to strengthenattention to mold in thequalitycontrol and microbial contamination monitoring of dried wolfberries.
