Caused by Infections of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus Together Investigation on the Outbreak of Acute Gastroenteritis on Campus

Abstract: Objective: To use multiple detection methods to identify the cause of a suspected bacterial food poisoning induced acute gastroenteritis in schools,providing reference for the prevention and control of foodborne diseases in schools.Method:Search for cases within schools afected by the epidemic,conduct epidemiological investigations,collct anal swabsand vomit samples,and use various pathogen rapid screning,real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction,isolation and culture,mass spectrometry identification,virulence gene detection and other technologies todetect pathogens.Result:atotal of74 suspectedcases were identifed,including58possible cases.Laboratory tests were conducted on 40 cases of anal swabs and 3 cases of vomit samples,and9 cases of Staphylococcus aureus were detected,including7cases of enterotoxin viulence gene astAand2cases ofenterotoxin virulence gene astC;7 cases of Bacilus cereus were detected,and the virulence genes were all nheB.Conclusion: This ncident is an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis oncampus caused bythe consumption of food contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus.
