The Effect of Meridian-based Touch Combined with White Noise Therapy on Sleep Quality in Newborns

AbstractObjective：Toexploretheefectofmeridian-based touchcombined with whitenoisetherapyonsleepqualityof newborns.Methods：Atotalof13Oful-termhealthynewbornsdeliveredatZhongda HospitalAfiliatedto Southeast Universityfrom March2024to March2O25 were selectedandrandomlydividedintoacontrolgroup（routine nursing and white noise therapy）and an obserers group（meridian-basedtouch onthebasis of routine group），with 65cases in each group.Theexcelentsleeprate， sleep parameters（sleeptime，numberof awakenings），sleepcrying（number ofcrying，maximumcrying duration）and sleepquality score（Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index，SQI）werecompared betwee thetwo groups beforeandafterintervention.Results：The excellent sleep rate in theobservation group（ 92.31% ）wassignificantly higher than that in the control group（ 80.00% ）（ P< 0.05）.After the intervention，sleeptime significantlyincreasedand the numberofawakenings significantlydecreased（ P<0.05 ） inboth groups，with theobservationgroupshowing greaterimprovement inthese parameterscompared tothecontrol group（ P< 0. 05）.The number of crying and maximum crying duration in both groups were reduced significantly（ P<0.05 ），and the indexes in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group（ P<0.05） . The PSQI scores decreased significantly in both groups （ P<0.05 ），and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group （ P<0.05 ）.Conclusion：Meridian-based touch combined with white noise therapycan effectively improve sleepquality，enhance sleep effiency，and reduce the numberand duration of crying in newborns，thus it is worthyof clinical reference.
