The Effect of Sucrose Water Combined with Non-nutritive Sucking ontheReliefofProceduralPainandSleepinNewborns

AbstractObjective:Toevaluatetheefectof sucrose watercombinedwithnon-nutritivesuckinginalleviating procedural pain andimprovingslepqualityinnewborns.Methods;FromJanuary2O2O to January2025,atotalof12Onewbornsadmited tothe DepartmentofNeonatologyofour hospital were included inthe studyandrandomlydivided intoanobservationgroup(6O cases) andacontrol group(6Ocases)byarandom number table.Thecontrol groupreceived sucrose waterfeeding toallviate procedural painwhiletheobservation groupreceivedsucrose watercombined with non-nutritivesucking.Thepain interventionefects during the procedure were compared using the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale(NIPS)and crying parameters(crying rate,crying duration). Thephysiological indicators(heartaterespiratoryrate,bloodoxygensaturation)bforeandduringtheoperation,aswellassleep qualityparameterswithin5daysaftertheoperation(including totaldailysleeptime,nightimesleepduration,numberofnightie awakenings,total dailyawakening duration,proportionofactiveslee(AS),quietslep(QS)time,frequencyof abnormal sleep movements)ofthetwogroupsofpatients werecompared.Results:During theoperation,theNISscores,cryingrates,cryingduration,heartrateandrespiratoryrateoftheobservationgroupweresignificantlylowerthanthoseofthecontrolgroup,whileeblood oxygen saturation was significantly higher than that of the control group( P<0.05 ). Within 5 days after the operation,the average totaldailysleeptimeandnightimeslpdurationoftheobservationgroupweresignificantlyhigherthanthoseofthecontrol group,and the number of nightime awakenings was significantly lower than that of the control group( P<0.05 ). Conclusion : The combinationofsucrosewaterandnon-nutritivesuckingisefectiveinrelieving proceduralpaininnewbors.Itsignificantlylleviates pain,promotes greater physiological stability,and effectively improves sleepquality after the procedure.
