The Impact of Whole-process Preventive Safety Empathy Care by Medical Teams on Sleep Quality in Elderly Patients after Appendectomy

AbstractObjective：To explore theimpactofa whole-process preventive safetyempathycare model provided by medical teams onslepqualityofelderlypatientsafterappendectomy.Methods：Atotalof9Oelderlypatientsafterappendectomyadmitted tothe DepartmentofGeneralSurgeryof theThirdPeople'sHospitalAfliatedtoFujianUniversityof Traditional Chinese Medicinefrom January 2022 to December 2O23 were selected as the studysubjects.Theywererandomlydivided intoa control groupand an observation groupusingarandomnumbertablemethod，with45patients ineach group.Thecontrolgroupreceivedroutineintervention，whiletheobservationgroupreceivedawhole-processpreventivesafetyempathycaremodelintervention bymedical teams.The Pitsburgh Sleep Quality Index（PSQI）wasused tocompare the changes in sleepquality between two groupsof patientsbeforeandafterintervention.Sleepindicators，ncluding maximumsleepuration，averagenightimesleeptime，andumber of nightimeawakenings（times/night）werecomparedbetweenthetwogroupsbeforeandafterintervention.Theprobabilityofpoor sleepoccurenceandinterventionsafetyeventswerecomparedbetwenthetwogroupsofpatientsafterintervention.ResultsAfter intervention，theobservationgrouphadlongermaximumslepduration，higheraveragenightimesleeptie，andfewernighimeawakeningscompared tothecontrolgroup.ThePSQIscoreofslepqualityintheobservationgroupwasbeterthanthatinthecontrolgroup，andtheprobabilityofpoorsleepintheobservationgroupwaslowerthanthatinthecontrolgroup.Theincidenceof fals，presureinjuries，andotherriskswasalsolowerthanthatinthecontrol group.Thediferencesbetweenthetwo groups were statistically significant（ P<0.05 ）. Conclusion： The whole-process preventive safety empathy care model by medical teams can significantly improve sleep quality and enhance clinical safety in elderly patients after appendectomy.
