Abstract： The research and application of additive manufacturing （AM） have developed rapidly over the last 30 years. Different fromtraditional processes，AMcould realize the processng ofvarious materials andcomplex structures.The paper brieflyanalyzes thecharacteristics ofadvanced materialsandthetraditional processes.Then itintroduces thehistorical developmentofAM，anddelineates thesevenmajortypesofAMprocesses andrelevantresearch.Thepaper furtheranalyzes theapplications oftheadvanced ceramicAMin diferent fields.Byacelerating the fundamental research intermsof materials，technologies，theories，computer-aided designandsimulation，as wellas increasing the economyandequipment investment， the application of ceramicAMcan be promoted invarious fields.
