Improvement of Fatigue Strength in the Installation Area of the Side PanelLock Striker of New EnergyVehicles

【Abstract】This paper focuses on the problem of sheet metal cracking near the weld points in the side panel lock instalation areaof a new energy vehicleduring therear door opening and closing durability test (25,OoO cycles).The rearhalfofthevehiclebodyis takenas theresearchobject,andthefatigue stressdistributioninthisareaisanalyzed by combining tests with FiniteElement Analysis (FEA).Aiming atthe problem thatthe fatigue performance ofthe solder jointareais inferiortothatofthegeneral structuralarea,fiveimprovementschemescenteredonsolderjointadjustment and structural adhesive aditionareproposed.Thedurabilityperformanceofeachscheme is evaluatedthrough simulation analysis,and theoptimalschemeis verified through benchtests.Theresults showthatthehazardousareas identified by thefiniteelementanalysisareconsistentwith thecrack areas inthetest.Thefinalselected schemeof"adding structural adhesiveonthebasis oftheoriginalscheme"reducedthestressoftheside panelto124MPa (lower thantheelastic limit of 180MPa of DC06cold-roled steel plate),withover50,00 testcycles,meeting therequirementsofopening andclosing durability,while also taking into account cost and process,providing areference for similarbody fatigue problems.
