AbstractInformation Retrieval and Reading is a specialized course designed for undergraduate students majoring in chemicalengineering，ming toenhance theirabilities toacquire，evaluate，andapplyacademicinformation.Centered aroundthecoreobjectiveof"cultivatingscientificresearchcapabilities，"thispaper explores thecourse'sreformpractices in terms of teaching philosophy，content design，instructional methods，andevaluation systems.Byestablishing afourlevel competency development framework，implementing a researchtask-driven teaching model，and adoptinga dynamic evaluation mechanism，thecourse has effectively improved students’comprehensive research skils，including topic refinement， literature retrieval， research topic selection， information integration， and academic writing.
