Numerical Simulation and Early Warning Researchon TBM Cutterhead Vibration under Complex Geological Conditions

Abstract:Inorder toimprove the service lifeand safetyofthefullfacehardrock tunneling machine(TBM) incomplex geological environments,numerical simulation methods were used to analyze the vibration of TBM in Class II-V (2 surounding rock conditions,andon一site monitoring data was evaluated.Theresults show that under normal excavation conditions,the reinforcement plate is the weakest positionof the cuterhead,andthe allowable stresses in ClasII,I1, IV,and V surrounding rocks are 135.3MPa , 121.8MPa , 110.7MPa ,and 101.5MPa ,respectively. In the case of Class I and III surrounding rocks,theequivalent stress of thecuterhead is basically closetotheallowable stressof the reinforcement plate,while in thecaseof Class IVand Vsurounding rocks,the equivalent stressof thecutterhead is less thantheallowable stressof thereinforcement plate.The vibrationcurveof thecutterhead folows anormal distribution patern.During excavationof Clas II and II surrounding rocks,the vibration ranges monitored on site,both of which exceeding thecorresponding vibration limits,and during excavationof Class IVandVsurrounding rocks,the vibration ranges monitored on site,both of which did not exceed the vibration warning limits.Therefore,reasonable emergency measures should be taken to reduce the vibration amplitude of the cuterhead during excavation of Class II and II surrounding rocks.
