【Abstract】The wear of the forging die for the balljoint pin of the automotive steering system is related to the product qualityanddrivingsafety.Thisarticle,by means oftheArchard wear modeland finite elementanalysis,dissects the wear mechanism and influencing factors of molds.Research has found that medium carbon steel material will acelerate mold wear,andoptimizing theheat treatment process can enhance wear resistance.Impropercontrolofforging process parameters (temperature,pressure,speed,coolingrate)caneasilylead tothermalfatigueandstressconcentration. Reasonable regulation can efectively reduce losses.Standardized operation and maintenance are crucial for extending the service lifeof molds.Numerical simulation shows that there isapeak pressure of324MPaandapeak temperature of (20 720% in the balljoint transition zone.After optimizing the mold design,the wear amount is reduced to 1.22×10-3mm , andthe mold life canreach 40,OoO pieces,providing theoretical supportforcost reductionand eficiency improvement as well as ensuring driving safety.
