Abstract:Thechief designerandchief enginerof majorprojectshave highscientificliteracy,generouseyes,andplay importantpartsofthenationalstrategictalentforce.Thecultivationof"chiefteacher-type"talentsrequiresdeepintegrationof foundationaldisciplinesandinnovativeteachingmodels.ThispaperexplorestheroleofMaterialmechanicsintalentcultivation underthebroad-classeducationframework.Byenhancingteachers’interdisciplinarycapabilities,integratingengineringcase studies,andreformingpracticaltraining,a"theory-practice-inovation"teachingsystemisproposed.Basedontheeducational practicesofNorthwesternPolytechnicalUniversity,thisstudyemphasizesthecriticalroleofmaterialmechanicsinbridging foundatinalknowledgeandprofessonalskils.Thereformpathcenteredonengineeringthinkingprovidesinsightsforoptimizing basicengineringcoursesinhigherducation,aimingtocultivatetalentscapableofleadingfuturetechnologicalbreakthroughs.
