[Abstract] As an inovative course model， physical education electivecourses are of great significance in primaryschool physical education teaching. This article focuses on physical education elective courses for higher grades in primary schoolandaims toexplore how tocultivate students'interestinsports throughthiscourse model.Currentlyphysical education elective courses for higher grades in primary school face problems such as unreasonable curiculum design， a lack of innovative teaching methods，unevenqualityof teaching staff，and inadequate evaluation systems.Inresponse to these isues，this article proposes four strategies： optimizing coursedesigns，innovating teaching methods，strengthening teachertraining，and improving evaluation systems，with the aimof efectively enhancing the teaching qualityof physical education elective courses，stimulating students'strong interest in sports，and providing useful references for the innovative development of primary school physical education teaching.
