A Method for Generating Pulse-Modulated Noise Based on Multiple Subcarriers

Abstract: Pulse-modulated noise (PWN) serves as auseful class of artificial test waveforms for electromagnetic interface (EMI)and electromagneticcapability(EMC)testing,capable of characterizing a widerange of interference vulnerabilities on communication links.In this paper,we propose methods based on multi-carrier PWN signal generation and multi-carrier in-band spectrum control. We demonstrate precise control of PWN when square wave frequenciesrangingfrom1MHzto 20MHz ,dutycycle ranging from 0% to 100% ,andGaussianwhitenoisewith bandwidths spanning 50 MHz to 400MHz .The proposed method can be utilized for effective pulse-modulated noise for testing modern digital wireless system.
