Research on the influence of adherent and suspended particle deposition amounts in drainage pipes and their scouring characteristics

Abstract:The deposition of suspended particles will lead to a decrease in the inner diameter of the pipeline and re⁃ duce the drainage capacity. It is of great significance to study the characteristics of particle deposition and erosion to improve the safety and sustainability of urban drainage systems. The influence laws of different factors on the de⁃ position of particulate matter in drainage pipelines was studied by experimental method. The results show that with the increase of water flow rate,the deposition of particulate matter in the pipeline decreases slowly and then decreas⁃ es rapidly,which is mainly related to the carrying capacity and flow stability of water flow. With the increase of par⁃ ticle size,the deposition of particulate matter in the pipeline increases rapidly and then increases slowly,which is mainly related to the gravity and suspension force of particulate matter. With the increase of particle mass concen⁃ tration,the deposition amount of particles increased slowly and then increased rapidly,which was mainly related to the number and dispersion degree of particles. With the increase of the relative density of particulate matter,the de⁃ position amount of particulate matter changes from a slow increase to a rapid increase and then to a slow increase, which is mainly related to the gravity of particulate matter.
