Abstract： The virtual linguistic landscape of government portals is an intuitive manifestation and key support of digital government services in the linguistic dimension. Taking the government portals of five municipal districts in Foshan as the research objects， this study， by integrating the theories of geographical semiotics and place semiotics and adopting a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative analysis，analyzes the characteristics of linguistic signs from four dimensions： phonetics， vocabulary， discourse， and code.The results show that the virtual linguistic landscape of Foshan’ s government portals has two core advantages： prominent multimodality， and themes focusing on government service functions and regional cultural characteristics. However， it also faces practical problems such as insufficient information timeliness and lack of language diversity supply.Based on the context of metaverse development，this study further proposes strategies for constructing the virtual linguistic landscape from four dimensions： current affairs and government affairs mechanism， multilingual services， language usage norms，and emergency language services. These strategies are intended to optimize the virtual linguistic landscape of Foshan’ s government portals， facilitate the digital upgrading of government services， and provide the "Foshan Experience" for the innovation of linguistic landscapes on government portals across the country.
