Research on the Construction of Educational Content for Korean Phonological Rules

Abstract: When second language learners begin studying a new language, they first encounter its pronunciation. However, the actual pronunciation of Korean differs significantly from its written form,posing significant challenges for beginners. Accurate pronunciation is essential for smooth verbal communication; therefore, phonetics instruction forms the foundational and crucial part of Korean language teaching. This paper employs a comparative analysis of Chinese and Korean phonology, categorizing phonological rules into six levels of difficulty based on their similarity to Chinese. The primary goal is to enhance learners' accuracy in Korean pronunciation. It establishes a targeted, graded pedagogical scheme to address the difficulties learners encounter in mastering the sequence of phonological rules. This approach maximizes the exploration and utilization of the positive transfer of learners' mother tongue influence. The phonological rules are systematically classified and hierarchically organized according to their difficulty. Ultimately, a pedagogically significant graded scheme is proposed.
