Research on surface modification based on pyrogallol group and improvement of adhesion performance of polyetheretherketone

Abstract:Epoxyresinadhesive is a widelyused adhesive with theadvantages of high bond strength,strong toughness and wide range of applications.With the continuous development of bonding engineering and technology,broadening the aplication range of bonding technologyinthe fieldof lowsurface energy materials isa hot topic in current research.The application value of engineering plastics represented bypolyetheretherketone(PEEK)is increasing,and it isof great significance to improve the bonding strength of PEEK by improving the bonding surface.In recent years,the pyrogalol group has been widely studied because itcan forma varietyof interaction forces with the substrate surface and the rubberbody.In this study,the pyrogallol group in gallcacid(GA)was introduced into the structure of epoxy monomer(DGEBA)through a one-step reaction,and the epoxy monomer modified by pyrogrosopallol (GA -DGEBA) was obtained.It was used as a surface treatment agent for the surface treatment of PEEK plasticshees,which effectivelyimproved the wetabilityof theadhesiveonthesurfaceofthe sheet,and improved he adhesion strength of epoxy resin adhesive on the surface of PEEK.The bonding strength increased from ( 1.62± 0.21)MPa for the unmodified sample to ( 2.62±0.41 )MPa after GA -DGEBA modification. This study provides a feasible way to improve the bonding strength of low surface energy materials by using the pyrogallol group.
