Application of Food Biotechnology in the Development of Functional Foods

Abstract: This article systematically reviews the specific applications of food biotechnology such as genetic enginering,cell engineering,and enzyme enginering in the development offunctional foods,and explores the technical paths ofthese technologies inenhancing the nutritional value offood and regulating physiological functions. At the same time,a comprehensive strategy for ensuring the safety of food biotechnology applications has been proposed from four dimensions: technology research and development, safety assessment,regulatory system,and talent cultivation, in order to provide theoretical reference forthe standardized application offood biotechnology and the sustainable development of functional food industry.
