Effect of Continuous Glucose Monitoring on Sleep Quality in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

AbstractObjective:Toobservetheeffectofcontinuous glucose monitoring(CGM)onsleepqualityin patients with type2diabetesandevaluatechanges intheirglycemicandlipidmetabolism.Methods:Atotalof7Opatients with type2diabetestreatedat Xiamen Branch,ZhongshanHospital,FudanUniversityfromFebruary2O23toFebruary2O24wereselectedandrandomlydivided into a control group( n=35 ) and an observation group( n=35 ). The control group received traditional blood glucose monitoring androutine diabetes education,whiletheobservationgroupunderwentCGMwith individualizeddietaryand exerciseguidance basedondynamic blood glucosechanges.Slepqualitybefore andafter interventionwasasesedusing the Pitsburgh SleepQuality Index(PSQI) .Fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose( -PBG),blood glucose before sleep,and low-densitylipoproteincholesterol(LDL-C)levels werecompared between thetwo groups.Results:After7daysof intervention, theobservationgroup showed significantlylower PSQI scorescomparedtothecontrolgroup.Aditionall,theobservationgroup demonstratedsignificantlylowerlevelsofFBG,2h-PBG,blood glucosebeforesleep,andLDL-Cthanthecontrolgroup,withll differences being statistically significant( P<0.05 ). Conclusion:Continuous glucose monitoring significantly improves sleep quality in patients with type 2 diabetes and aids in the regulation of glycemic and lipid metabolism.
