【Abstract】To optimize the flow field performance of bipolar plates in proton exchange membrane fuel cells, thispaperdesignsa variablecrosssectionflow field basedonthetraditional straightchannelflow field through local indentation,and conducts simulation studies for three structures with diferent numbersof indentations.Theresults showthattheimproved variable cross-sectionflow field is superior tothe traditional straight channelflow field in terms of proton exchange membrane current distribution, water activity,gas distribution and pressure distribution,among which the oxygen,current densityand water activity have been significantly improved.Specifically,themaximum difference in current densitydecreased by 0.025A/cm2 compared to before the improvement,and the maximum value of water activity decreased by O.O4,compared to before the improvement.The research can provide new ideas and theoretical references for the optimal design of the flow field of fuel cells.
