Abstract：Since the14th FiveYearPlan，the water environment qualityofrivers in China has continuedto improve， butthereare stillprominent problemssuchas imbalanced water ecosystemsanddeclining biodiversity.Asan ffective technical meansofwaterecologicalprotectionandrestoration，riverecologicalbuferzoneshavethefunctionsofblocking ormitigating humanactivity interference，effctivelyinterceptingarea-sourcepollution，enhancing waterself purification capacity，andimprovingecosystemintegrity.TakingtherestorationprojectofriverecologicalbuferzoneinWuxicityof theTaihubasinasanexample，thispaperintroducesthekeypointsofriverecologicalbuferzoneprotectionandrestoration technology，and provides ideas for domestic river ecological protection and restoration Keywords： ecological buffer zone;area-source pollution; ecological restoration; restoration technology
