[Abstract]Covert postpartum urinary retention is a common but easily overlooked complication during the puerperum.Due to the lack of typical clinical symptoms and the inconsistent diagnostic criteria，it is oftenmissed ordelayed diagnosis inclinical practice，which maylead to long-term adverseoutcomes suchas bladderdysfunction andrecurrent urinary tract infections.This article systematically reviews the latest research progress on the pathophysiological mechanism，diagnosis and assessment methods，risk factors，and management strategiesofcovert postpartumurinary retention.It also comprehensivelyanalyzes and points outthatits occurrnceis closely related to the mother herself， the labor process，the fetus，and postpartum factors.
