Abstract: With the rapid development of science and technology, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with the ideological and political course is a key solution to the digital transformation of college education. This paper takes the liberal education course Rare Plant Appreciation in colleges and universities as the research object, and explores how to use AI technology to empower the reform and optimization of ideological and political teaching in this course. First of all, this paper analyzes the problems in the integration of ideological and political elements in traditional Rare Plant Appreciation courses, such as superficial excavation of ideological and political elements, single teaching methods, and lagging evaluation systems. Subsequently, we explored the empowerment path of AI technology (such as intelligent image recognition, natural language processing technology, virtual scenes, big data analysis, etc.) in deeply mining curriculum-based ideological and political elements, innovating ideological and political teaching models, and building an intelligent ideological and political evaluation system. Finally, from the aspects of reshaping the role of teachers, preventing ethical risks, and building technical environment, we propose safeguard measures for the reform of ideological and political teaching of courses empowered by AI, in order to provide reference for the integration of ideological and political construction and technological innovation of similar courses.
