Research on the impact of socialized agricultural services in China on food self-sufficiency rate

Abstract:To thoroughlyimplementthe development strategy of “storing grain in landand technology”and efectively strengthennational food securitycapabilities,this studyutilizes paneldatafrom 3O Chinese provinces andcities between2oo3and 2o23.Itemploys theentropymethod to measure the levelof agricultural socialized servicesand empirically examines the impact andmechanisms of agricultural socialized services on staple food self-suffciency rates, therebyprovidingan in-depth analysisofthespecificeffectsand pathwaysofagricultural socializedservicesonstaple food self-suficiencyrates.Theresultshowedthatagricultural socialized servicessignificantly and positively influencestaple foodself-suffciencyrates,witheffectsthatarerobustandpersistent.Heterogeneityanalysis reveals diferences in the impact of various subsystems of agricultural socializedservices on staple food selfsufficiency ratesand theirefectsacross diferentregions.Among agricultural socializedservices,sowingand harvesting services demonstrate the mostsignificant efects inimproving staplefood self-suffciencyrates.Regionally,the positive efectsofagriculturalsocializedservicesonstaplefoodself-sufficiencyratesaremost pronouncedinbalancedgrain production and consumptionareas.Mechanism testing indicates that agricultural socialized services enhance staple foodself-suficiencyratesbyincreasinggrainyieldperunitareaandtherateoflow-to-mediumproductivity field improvement.In summary,itisrecommended that governments promoteagricultural socialized services through measuressuchasfiscal subsidiesandtax incentives,improvethelevelofagriculturalsocializedservices,and prioritizethe expansion of production-related services.
