Abstract:Aiming attheindustrialchalenges suchaslow eficiency,high costs,and the lack of dedicated grading equipment for manual water chestnut grading,a vibrating screening-basedautomatic classfier specifically designed for waterchestnutswas developed.Firstly,preliminaryexperimentsand simulation testswereconductedtoidentify the operational parametersof theclassifier that affectthegrading acuracyof water chestnuts.A kinematic simulation model of thevibrating screen,thecorecomponentoftheautomaticclassifierwasthenestablished byusing ADAMSsoftware to analyzand determine thecrank lengthand the adjustablerangeof thecrank motorspeed.Athreefactorandthree-level Box—Behnken experiment was designed by using theDesign—Expert software,and the automatic grading experimentof water chestnuts was caried out.The results revealed thatthe crank motor speedand sieve plate inclination angle were themostsignificant factors influencingoverall gradingaccuracy.Subsequently,theoperational parametersofclasifier wereoptimized to maximize overall grading accuracy,the optimal working parameters were obtained bythefeeding amount of 9.73kg/min ,sieve plate inclination of 2.11∘ ,crank motor speed of 105.96r/min .Finally,a water chestnut grading validation test wasconducted based on theoptimized operational parameters.The test results demonstrated that the automatic grading machine achieved high-precision grading,with an overall grading accuracy of 95.87% and the error between the test value and the model prediction value was less than 5% .This study provides an effective reference for the improvement of post-harvestautomatic grading technologiesfor water chestnutsandsimilarirregular,damage prone agricultural materials.
