[Abstract]Postpartum depression (PPD) is a depressive disorder that occurs in women within 4 to 6 weeks after delivery, with core symptoms including low mood, weakened interest and anhedonia.Itsharmfulness is multidimensional, notonlyseriouslyafectsthephysicalandmental healthofmothers, butalsohasadverseeffects onthebehavioral, emotionalandcognitivedevelopmentof infantsandyoungchildren. Therefore, ithasreceived widespread attention fromsociety.Dopamine (DA),asa keycatecholamine neurotransmiter in thecentral nervous system, participates in regulating emotions, motivation, reward mechanisms, and motor control by regulating multiple neural pathways such as the midbrain limbic pathwayand midbrain cortex pathway.DA receptors have been confirmed as therapeutic targets for various mental disorders, and reduced sensitivityof the DA reward pathway can lead to anhedoniaor lack of motivation, and anhedonia is one of the typical clinical symptoms of depression. Therefore, this article willconduct ananalysis from aspects such as the related factors leading to PPD, the mechanismof the DA system inPPD,andthecurrenttreatment status, aiming to provide references forthe basic research and clinical intervention of DA in the future.
