[Abstract] Objective: To investigate the influence of different bone cement injection volumes on postoperative injured vertebra height and complications in elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) undergoing percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP). Method: From January 2O20 to December 2023, 80 elderly patients with OVCF who metthe inclusion criteria in Pingxiang Second People's Hospital were selected and divided into group A (3 mL),group B (5 mL)and group C(7 mL) according to different doses of bone cement. The pain(VAS score),anterior vertebral height ratio of injured vertebrae,Cobb angle and incidence rates of complications were compared among the three groups.Result: At 24 hours and 48 hours after surgery,the VAS scores inthe three groups were reduced compared withthose before surgery,at48 hoursafter surgery,the VAS score in group C was lower than that in group Band group A,and that in group B was lower than that in group A ( P <0.05). At6 monthsaftersurgery,theanterior vertebral heightratioof injured vertebrae were enlarged inthethree groups compared withthose before surgery,andthat in group Cand group B was higher thanthatin group A;the Cobb angle of injured vertebrae were smaller thanthosebefore surgery,andthat wassmalerin group Cand group Bthan that in group A ( P <0.05).The incidence rate of complications in group C at 6 months after surgery was higher than that in group A ( P <0.05).Conclusion: Increasing the bone cement injection volume during PVP can relieve the pain and improve the mobilityof lowerback,but excessive injection volume willincrease theriskofbonecement leakage.It is recommended thatthebone cement injection volumeis5mL,which canachieve beter painrelief andlong-term improvementofCobbangleof injured vertebraandanterior vertebral heightratioof injured vertebra,and the risk of leakage is small.
