Research on Countermeasures for Building a World-Class Canal Ancient Town with Intangible Cultural Heritage Characteristics

—Taking the Zhejiang Section of the Grand Canal as an Example

Abstract：Asthe protectionanddevelopmentof ancienttowns alongtheGrand Canal entersanew phase，theisueof their homogeneousdevelopmenthasbecomeincreasinglyprominent，makingitdifulttofullysowcasethedistictivefeaturesofinangible culturaleritage（ICH）.TisresearchimstoexplorethedevelopmentpathofGrandCanalancienttownswithICHcharacteristicsathe core，breaktoughtetraditioalcommercialdevelopentodel，ndonstructomprehesiveevelopentsstethatate sightseing experiences withthedynamicutilizationofICH.Itmainlyadoptsacombinationofliteraturereview，caseanalysis，and comparativeresearchmethodstosystematicallysortouttheancienttownsalongtheGrandCanalinChinaspeciallythoseinthe Jiangnansection.Theresearchshowsthatthedevelopmentofworld-classGrandCanalancienttownsandtheirsustainabledevelopmentmustbedrivenbyICHcharacteristicsasthecore，ndamulti-stakeholdercolaborativegoverancepaterninvolvingthegovernment，communities，enterprises，andthepublicshouldbeformed.Thiswillenablethetransformationofancienttowsfromsingle sightseingdstinationstoplacsforin-depthculturalexperienestherebyenhancingtheinterationalinfluenceofrandCanalancient towns and moving them toward becoming world-class cultural heritage destinations.
