Detection of Propranolol in Functional Beverages byLiquid Phase Microextraction Combined with Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometry

Abstract: A rapid method for the separation and detection of propranolol in functional beverages was established using liquid-phase microextraction (LPME) combined with ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UVVis).Through single-factor optimization experiments,the optimal extraction conditions were determined as follows: the extraction solvent was tributyl phosphate, the donor phase was a sodium hydroxide solution at pH11 , the acceptor phase was a hydrochloric acid solution at pH2 ,the extraction time was 20 minutes,and the stirring speed was 240r⋅min-1 . Method validation showed that propranolol exhibited good linearity over the concentration range of 0.2~50.0mgL-1. ,with a correlation coefficient (r2) of0.9995.The detection limit and quantification limit were 97.2μg⋅L-1 and 320.0μg⋅L-1 ,respectively. At spiked concentrations of 2mg⋅L-1 and 5mg⋅L-1 ,the average recoveries ranged from 95.5% to 108.1% ,with relative standard deviations (RSD) below 6% ,meeting the requirements of method validation. Inconclusion,this method requires relatively inexpensive instrumentation, is simple tooprate, and demonstrates good linearityaccuracy,and precision.Itis suitable for therapid separationand detectionof propranolol in functional beverages,providing atechnical reference for regulatory authorities to monitor the illegal addition of propranolol.
