Determination of p -Hydroxybenzoate Preservatives in Foods by SPE-HPLC

Abstract: A analytical method for the determination of seven kinds of p-hydroxybenzoate preservatives in foods by solid phase extraction combined with high performance liquid chromatography is established.The sample pretreatment process and detection method are improved by optimizing the solid phase extraction conditions and the separation parameters of high performance liquid chromatography. The results show that this method has good separation efect and high sensitivity for the seven common p-hydroxybenzoates in foods,the linear range is good within the range of 0.2mg-L-1 to 50mg⋅L-1 (the correlation coefficients are all greater than O.999), the average recovery rate is from 82.4% to 95.8% ,therelative standard deviation is from 0.35% to 3.18% ,and the limit of detection is from 0.18mg.L-1 to 0.27mg.kg-1 , which can meet the accurate detection requirements of p-hydroxybenzoate preservatives in foods.
