Abstract From June 22 to 23, 2016, rainstorm and heavy rainstorm occurred in Nanchang, causing serious overwork and waterlogging. In this paper, the physical quantities of the heavy rainstorm weather process in Nanchang on June 22 were diagnosed and analyzed by using the weather reality, regional automatic station data and NCEP 1°×1° reanalysis data, focusing on the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of this process, and the conclusions were drawn: (1) This process was mainly affected by the eastward movement of the high trough, the southwest airflow in the middle and low levels, and the shear in the low levels; (2) Sufficient water vapor conditions, energy condition and vertical motion conditions were conducive to triggering the rainstorm; (3) Under the background of circulation influenced by the eastward movement of the high altitude trough, southwest airflow, and shear line, the overall humidity in the Nanchang area was relatively high, and the ground convergence line and inverted trough were located near Nanchang, which was conducive to Nanchang becoming a center of heavy precipitation.
