Evaluation of natural regeneration in the Pinus henryi plantation and its influencing factors

Abstract:ThenaturalregenerationofPinus henryiplantationsinBashnForestFarmandtheinfluencingfactors wereanalyzed,to provideatheoreticalbasis forpromoting naturalregenerationthrough management practices.Basedonsurveydata,thequalityof natural regeneration seedlings at different heightlevels( <30 cm,30 )cm⩽H<50 cm, ⩾ 50 cm)was assessed using the adjusted Class IsedlingdensityndacomprehensiveevaluationsystemasdevelopedtoexploreinfluencingfactorsofnaturalregeneratioThe resultsshowedthatthesumof the importancevaluesofdominantregeneration speciesexceeded 60%inallplots,withPrunus dielsianadominating mostofthem.ObviousdiferencesinsedlingqualitywereobservedacrossvriousplotsbasedonadjustedI-level density.Regenerationdensity,seedlingeight,andtheproportionoflargesedlingshdasignificantimpactonregeneratiosce. Thehighestcomprehensiveevaluatiocoeficients wereobservedinplots3and2,whilethelowestwereinplots5and6.Crelation analysis indicated that the regeneration index was positively correlated with diameter at breast height ( DBH )and tree height,and negatively correlated with stand density.Stepwise regression analysis further indicated that DBH and stand openness facilitated natural regeneration,whilehighstanddensitysuppresedit.Naturalregenerationofpionerbroadleaf speciessuchasPrunusdielsiana contributedtothediversityandstabilityofthePinushenryi-broadleaf mixedforest.Thecomprehensiveindexevaluationproved applicabletoassessngnaturalegeneationuccssDBH,standensityandopesidexweredentifedsthomnantfacto afecting naturalregeneration.Appropriateregulationof stand structurecould efectively enhance the naturalregenerationof P .henryi plantations.
