Study on the hybrid affinity of wild speciespeony of Subsect Delavayanae

Abstract：ThewildspeciesofSubsectDelavayanaeofpeonyhaveimportantbreeding value.Thisstudyanalyzedthehybridizationaffinityof wildspeciespeonyofSubsectDelavayanaandscreenedouthybridcombinationsortypeswithgoodafinitythroughartificial hybridizationbetweenwildspecies peonyofSubsect Delavayanae，aswellasbetwen wildandcultivatedspecies.Theresultsshowed thatthehybridizationamongPaeoniadelavayi，Paeonialutea，andPaeoniapotaninigenerallyhadahighseedsetingquantity，and theharvestedsedshadagoodgerminationrate.However，wenusingPaeonialudlowi as theparent，althoughsomeseedswerealso received，theseedsdidn’tgerminate.WhenthewildspeciesofSubsectDelavayanae wereusedasthefemaleparentandhybridized with thecultivatedspeciesoftheSubsectVaginatae，theaverageseedsetingquantitydecreasedfromhightolow：Paeonialutea > （20 Paeonia delavayi > Paeonia ludlowii > Paeonia potanini，while the wild species as the male parent，the average seed setting quantity decreased from high to low：Paeonia potanini > Paeonia lutea > Paeonia delavayi > Paeonia ludlowii.Most of the hybrid combinations betweenthe wildspeciesof theSubsectDelavayanaeandthecultivatedvarietiesofthe Subsect Vaginataecouldbearfruitnoraly， showingacertaindegreeoffinity.However，thefruitsetingateandseedemergencerateof thewildspeciesofSubsectDelavayanae as the female parent were higher than those of the wild species of Subsect Delavayanae as the male parent.
