The inhibitory effects of different plant extracts against Fusarium moniliforme

Abstract:Inordertoinvestigatetheihbtoryfectsofextractsfromsixplants,namelyCyperusrotundusL,Euonymus mckiRupr.,AdenophorastrictaMiq.,RheumpalmatumL.,ortexFraxini,andHelianthus tuberosusL.onFusariummoniliforme,thegowth ratemethodwasusedtosrentheethanolcrudeextractswithstrongantibacterialactivityfromthesixplants.Then,asrisofpolar solventssuchaspetroleumetherwereusedtoextractthescreenedethanolcrudeplantextracts.Theinibitionrateofeachextracton mycelialgrowthwasdetermined,thevirulencediferencsofachextractiniibiting mycelialgrowthwereanalyzd,theantextractwiththestrongestinibitoryeffectonFusariummonilfomewasscreenedout,andtheinbitoryefectoftisplantextracton sporegermination,aswellas isfectsonmycelialmorphologyandcellembranepermeabilityweredeterined.Theesultsshowed thattheethanolcrudeextractsofCyperusrotundusandEuonymus maackihadsignificantlyhigherinibitoryefectsonthemycelial growthofFusarummoniliformethanthecrudeextractsofotherplants,butterewasnosignificantdiferecebetweethem.Among thepolarextractionsolventsofCyperusrotundusandEuonymus maachi,thepetroleumetherextractsshowedsignificantantibacterial activity,andtheantibacterialefectoftepetroleumetherextractofCyperusrotuduswassignificantlyhigherthanthatofEuonyus maacki.The median inhibitory concentration ( IC50 )of the two on mycelial growth were 6.076 6 mg/mL and 16.736 3 mg/mL,respectively. The IC50 of the petroleum ether extractof Cyperus rotundus on spore germination was 7.7217 mg/mL.This extractcould lead to abnormal mycelial growth and damage the semi - permeability of the mycelial cell membrane.
