Taizhou Vocational Colege of Science and Technology,Taizhou, Zhejiang Province,318O20 China [Abstract] Thisarticleaims tooptimize the ideologicaland political educationconstructionof sports dance in higher vocational colleges under the background ofnew engineering disciplines,exploring the unique value of sports dance courses in new engineering education, including multiple educational functions suchas fitness,psychology，social interaction,and thearts.The research points out that sports dance courses can promote students'allround physical and mental development,which is in line with the conceptof"holisticeducation" innew enginering.This course can enhance students'innovation ability,exercise interdisciplinary thinking,enhance cultural self-confidence and international vision,and promote the improvement of profesionalismand social adaptability.While clarifying the necesity ofcuriculum ideological and political construction of sports dance in higher vocational colleges under the background of new engineering,this paper also digs deep into the ideological and political elements in sports dance courses from the aspects of General Secretary Xi Jinping's positioning speech on the positioning of young people in the new era,the guiding outline for currculum ideological and political construction of college,the core literacy structureofnew engineering talents,and the special characteristics of sports dance.It proposes construction paths such as clarifying educational goals,reconstructing teaching content, innovating teaching methods,improving evaluation
