Interpretation of English Idioms from the Perspective of Metaphorical Cognition

Abstract：Asoneofthecore formsof humancognition，metaphorprofoundlyinfluences theconstructionand interpretationof language.Basedonthecognitiveteoryofmetaphor，thissudyexploresthesemanticcootationsofEnglishidioms，withteprary objectiveofanalyzingtheunderlyingconceptualframeworksandcognitiveoperationalmodelsinherentinidioms.Throughanindepth examinationofonceptualmetaphor，meaphoricalmappingandculturalcognitieframeworks，itelucidatesteitrisiclogic andesentialprinciplesofidiomsemanticgeneration.Theresearchprocessprimarilyemployslinguisticmaterialanalysisasacore method，utilizingtypicalEnglishidiocasstodemonstratethepiotaloleofmetaphorinidomsemanticconstructiontroughomparativeandinductiveapproaches.Fromacognitiveperspectiveinterpretingidiomsnotonlyenablesamoreprofoundgaspoftheir deeperemanticconotationsbutalsoprovidespracticalguidanceforcross-culturalcommunicationand translationpractice.Te findingsrevealthattemetaphoricalcognitiveperspectivesignificantlyenhancesthedepthofunderstandingofEnglishidios，fering crucialinsightsfortinterpretationofigusticenomenaandpracticalalicatios，tebyoldngbothteorecalsigniicance and practical value.
