[Abstract]Objective: To explore the application of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) combined with hot guta-percha vertical compaction inthe treatmentof C-shape root canals in mandibular second molars.Method: A total of 88 patients with C-shape rootcanals in mandibular second molars who received treatment at Ruijin People's Hospital from March 202 to June 2024 wereenrolled.They were grouped bythe ball-touching method,with odd numbersas thecontrol group (n=44)and even numbers asthe observation group (n=44).The control group received CBCT combined with cold gutta-percha lateral compaction,and the observation group received CBCT combined withhotguta-percha verticalcompaction.Clinicaleficacy,clinical indicators,fillingquality,and complication rates were compared between the two groups.Result: The total effctive rate of treatment in theobservation group washigher thanthatinthecontrol group,thefiling timeofrootcanaltreatmentandthedistancebetween thefilling materialandtheapicalarea wereshorterintheobservationgroupcomparedtothecontrol group,thecorrectfilingrate in the observation group was higher,whilethe underfiling rate waslower compared tothe control group,the incidence of complications was lower in the observation group than that in the control group( P<0.05 .Conclusion:CBCT combined with hot guta-percha vertical compaction is superiorto CBCT combined with cold gutta-percha lateral compaction inthe treatmentof C-shape rootcanals inmandibular secondmolars.Itsignificantly improves treatment outcomes,reduces treatment time,enhances filling quality,and lowers the incidence of complications.
