Effect of Propranolol Combined with Thiamazole on Glucose and Lipid Metabolismand Calcium and Phosphorus MetabolisminPatients with Hyperthyroidism/LI Shanshan,LIU Zehong.//Medical Innovation of China,2025,22(29):034-037

[Abstract]Objective:To investigate the effct of the combination of Propranolol and Thiamazole on patients with hyperthyroidism.Method:A total of86 hyperthyroidism patientsadmited to Ganzhou People's Hospital from March 2022 to March 2024 were divided into two groupsby random number table method.The control group (n=43) was treated with Thiamazole,and the observation group ( n =43)was treated withPropranolol on thebasis of control group.Both groups were treated for 3 months.The comparisons were performed on the clinical eficacy,glucose andlipid metabolism levels,calciumand phosphorusmetabolism levels,thyroid function,andadversereactions in both groups.Result: The observation group obtained higher total efective rate than that of the control group,with statistical difference ( χ2 =4.441, P =0.035).After treatment,the levels of TC, TG,LDL-C,blood phosphorus,FT4,and FI3′ in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,while the levels of blood calcium and hyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group ( P <0.05). After treatment,there were no statisticallysignificant differences in2h postprandial glucose (2hPG)and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels between the two groups ( P >0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was comparable between the two groups,with no statistically significant difference ( P>0.05 ).Conclusion: The combination of Propranolol and Thiamazole has a definite therapeutic effect,itcanregulate calciumand phosphorus metabolism levels,promote thyroid function improvement,and have arelativelysmallimpacton glucose and lipid metabolism,does notincrease the adverse reactions.
